Help Provide a Happy Thanksgiving to Victims of Domestic Violence

Naples, FL – Help to create warm and happy memories for the Shelter for Abused Women & Children’s residents and program participants this Thanksgiving by joining in our November Food Drive.

“Community members can help by either donating funds or store gift cards to help the Shelter fill Thanksgiving grocery bags for our families, or by purchasing all the ingredients for a wonderful holiday meal and delivering the bags to our Options Thrift Shoppe,” explains Shelter Director of Development Cyndi Fields.

Items needed to ensure Shelter program participants enjoy their Thanksgiving include:Shelter Thanksgiving Grocery Bags

  • Turkey
  • Stuffing
  • Gravy
  • Cranberry Sauce
  • Instant Potatoes
  • Green Beans
  • Corn
  • One vegetable oil (32 oz. or 48 oz.)
  • Condensed Milk
  • Instant Pudding & Whipped Cream
  • Candy (Optional)

Immokalee Thanksgiving Grocery Bags

  • One 2 pound bag of rice
  • One 1 pound dried beans
  • Two – 6oz cans of canned fish
  • One 4.4 pound bag of Maseca tortilla flour or a 2 pound bag of plain white flour
  • Four packages of ramen noodles
  • Two cans of vegetables
  • Diced or Whole Tomatoes
  • One vegetable oil (32 oz. or 48 oz.)
  • One 1 pound box of sugar
  • Candy (optional)

Additionally, the Shelter is in need of the following ‘every day’ items for some of the 4,000 adult and child victims of domestic violence served face-to-face each year:

  • Gift cards to Publix, Wal-mart, Target,     SweetBay, Winn Dixie, Payless Shoes
  • Phone cards
  • Gasoline cards
  • Blankets
  • Pillows
  • Towels
  • Twin-sized sheets & comforters
  • Diapers
  • Shampoo & conditioner

Donations can be dropped off at the Shelter’s Options Thrift Shoppe, located at 968 Second Avenue North in Naples.
