Apple Pie Day is the Shelter’s way of honoring the late Jack & Lue Harris for their countless hours of volunteer service to the organization, as well as their generous gift that provided the Shelter with the resources to purchase the Options Thrift Shoppe building. Each year on the anniversary of Jack’s birthday, the Shelter holds a small ceremony complete with Jack’s favorite dessert, apple pie. In operation since 1994, Options features a variety of gently-used furniture and home furnishings, clothing, accessories, as well as a designer boutique. One hundred percent (100%) of proceeds generated by Options is used to fund Shelter services, such as the 24-hour crisis hotline (239-775-1101), 60-bed residential shelter, outreach counseling, children’s counseling and educational programs. Options also serves as a complimentary department store for the agency’s program participants who receive gift certificates to shop for the clothing, household furnishings and furniture needed to start their new lives free from domestic violence. Donations of new and gently used items are accepted at the store during normal business hours, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
