Elder Abuse Hurts Us All – Topic of Purple Bag Lecture

Naples, FL – The Education Committee of the Guild for the Shelter for Abused Women & Children presents the second installment of the 2008 Purple Bag Lecture Series, Elder Abuse Hurts Us All, Tuesday, April 22, 2008, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Collier County Public Library, Naples Branch, 650 Central Avenue, Naples.

Join Shelter Elder Abuse Advocate Vickijo Letchworth to explore the varied aspects of intimate partner violence and abuse of older individuals, including how societal norms, stereotypes, stigmas and health issues effect how victims are perceived and treated.

The Shelter’s Elder Abuse Response program is funded by The Brookdale Foundation/Ramapo Trust.

Designed to raise awareness about domestic violence; educate the community on breaking the cycle of abuse; and provide resources to women, children and men victims of domestic violence, as well as those who care for them, the Purple Bag Lecture Series is organized by the Education Committee of the Shelter’s Guild and underwritten by Jerry Wachowicz, Realtor.

Individuals are asked to bring a friend. Coffee, cookies and presentation provided by the Guild Education Committee. Seating is limited, for more information and to reserve a spot, please call 643-0136.
