Shelter for Abused Women & ChildrenHealthy Relationships Topic of Shelter Guild’s Purple Bag SeriesFor Immediate Release: 12/14/07 Naples, FL – The Education Committee of the Guild for the Shelter for Abused Women & Children is pleased to announce the first installment of the 2008 Purple Bag Series, set for Wednesday, February 13, 2008, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Collier County Public Library, Naples Branch, 650 Central Avenue, Naples. “This is a wonderful opportunity to explore how your relationship affects you emotionally, as well as impacts the other areas of your life,” explains Shelter Director of Programs Jan Christiansen. “We can’t solve everyone’s relationship issues in this timeframe, but what we can do is explore the issues that make a relationship more or less healthy for both parties involved and provide tools to help balance your needs with your partners’ needs.” Secrets of Healthy Relationships will explore the characteristics of healthy relationships; offer a tool for evaluating how a relationship affects other areas of one’s life; provide the basic rights each individual has within a relationship; discuss boundaries; and assist participants in finding a balance within their relationships. The series, organized by the Education Committee of the Shelter’s Guild, is designed to raise awareness about domestic violence; educate the community on breaking the cycle of abuse; and provide resources to women, children and men victims of domestic violence, as well as those who care for them. The Purple Bag Series is underwritten by Jerry Wachowicz, Realtor. Individuals are asked to bring a friend. Coffee, cookies and presentation provided by the Guild Education Committee.
