Frequently Asked Questions about The Shelter

Do you serve men or only women?

The Shelter serves all victims of domestic violence and human trafficking. Although the majority of participants are women and children, men have participated in our outreach services as well as emergency shelter. The emergency shelter is set up to accommodate male victims by providing them with living areas separate from the general populace.

Do you serve minors? Can minors stay alone in your shelter?

Minors are able to take part in group and individual counseling at The Shelter. Minors living in emergency shelter must be residing with a parent.

Where are you located?

Although the internet makes it increasingly difficult, the locations of The Shelter’s Naples and Immokalee facilities are confidential to protect the participants. The Shelter Options Shoppe is located at 968 2nd Avenue North in Naples.

If a friend/family/neighbor is going through domestic violence, can I ask you to call them?

The Shelter offers services for you as a secondary victim. Unfortunately, we cannot be the first to reach out to a victim for their safety. If you believe your friend is in immediate danger, call 911. For information on how to help your friend, CLICK HERE.

Does your pet kennel serve all types of pets?

Although the majority of pets served by our kennels are dogs and cats, we have had a variety of animals including guinea pigs, parrots, hamsters, ferrets, hermit crabs, fish, among others.
