On behalf of Margo Whiteman Vahlkamp's extended family, in Indianapolis, thank you for the loving support offered by Shelter staff at the recent murder trial of her husband David. It was very comforting for those of us back in Indiana to know that our family was in such loving hands. David's conviction on first-degree murder for Margo's death cannot bring her back, but we know he'll never hurt another family like he has ours. May God bless your continued efforts on behalf of abused women and children. 12/6/2004

As I read the front page of the December, 2002 newsletter, I was in absolute awe that some wonderful donor has chosen to name the counseling center after my daughter, Margaret Anne (Margo) Whiteman Vahlkamp. My family will be so thrilled. It has been an excruciating 7 months for all of us. I am coming to Florida soon and plan to travel to Naples to visit your and your beautiful new haven of hope. I can't wait! 12/6/2004

I wanted to thank the Shelter for Abused women for helping me in 1997. I have been blessed by your assistance in helping me and my family get back on our feet. I am strong, Praise God. I would love to encourage other women going through this tough time to not lose hope. If I can make it, they can too. Thank you so much the Shelter for Abused Women and Children. I appreciate all you do.

I would like to say "Thank you". Without organizations like yours I am not sure where I would be today. Where there is understanding there is hope.

To the many good people who keep the Shelter thriving. Today I have gratitude in my heart as I clean up the post-Christmas scene in our apt. Thanks to those kind souls associated with the Shelter whom I don't know personally, but who shopped for Christmas gifts for my kids and even for me. There were big smiles as they unwrapped Monopoly, new sneakers, books, and more. Not only did it give them joy, it restored some feeling of holiday magic to me. It's been a long road to disentangle myself from the painful history and ongoing difficulties with my ex. It's often felt very lonely and overwhelming. Though attending support groups at the Shelter this year, I felt for the first time that I was with others who really understand this struggle. And the generosity of these wonderful holiday gifts has truly brought back some feelings of warmth and hope. Many thanks. I look forward to someday giving back to the Shelter myself. 12/26/2008

I find strength in seeking out those who have triumphed in the face of adversity. Even eight years after leaving an abusive relationship I still find it necessary to seek out others who understand on a personal level from time to time...God Bless you.

In 2003 I was a client in your shelter with my cat Tam. Bless Peggy, Sally and Carol who helped me get to the mental health people and were here when I needed to talk. 8/19/2008
